The Sunday Forums are a weekly class, held during six months of the year at 10:30 a.m. on Sundays, led by parish clergy and guest speakers. The Forum offers teachings on a variety of topics which seek to cover “the basics”: the Book of Common Prayer, Anglicanism, church history, Scripture, Rule of Life, spiritual healing, sin and forgiveness, prayer, and issues of church and society. It is a good introduction to Christian formation for adults at Saint Paul’s and ideal for those who are unable to commit to regular or extended classes or groups. Feel free to drop in whenever you can, and while it is best to catch a series as a whole, each week can also stand alone. Together we shall seek to rediscover our foundational identity as the community of the baptized and so be more deeply renewed and empowered in mission and ministry. The Sunday Forums page contains a more in-depth description of this year's forum series; you can also watch videos of past forums.
The Adult Discussion Group meets in the Common Room at 10:30 a.m. We are currently considering St. Luke's Gospel based on Luke for Everyone (The New Testament for Everyone) by N.T. Wright. All are welcome to join us for one or more sessions.
Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m., Bread for the Journey Our spiritual lives are a journey – a journey with God, a journey with ourselves, and a journey with others. To be prepared for our journey, we need nourishment, sustenance – bread for the journey! This year, our Wednesday evening program will be both a journey and nourishment for our journey. Together, we will journey through five major topic areas: church history, spirituality, theology, liturgy and ethics. We will explore how these areas impact our journey with God. We will have a number of guest speakers from seminaries and universities around the metropolitan Washington area. Our time together will not only feed the mind but our bodies and souls as well. Each night, we will begin with Evening Prayer and Mass, followed by a Simple Supper and then our presentation. Please consider joining us for this journey! Each session includes time of teaching and reflecting on the Scriptures with emphasis on their applicability to our daily lives, and finishes in time for Evensong & Benediction. The group is led by Dr. Ryan Danker of Wesley Theological Seminary.
